PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The company’s proprietary microwave technology enables tactile, highly durable sensors without electronic components, coils, or ferrites inside. The sensors are absolute and highly stable, offering linearity better than 0.01% and a resolution of 0.1 µm. As a result, the thickness gauges do not require zeroing before or after measurement — a process that often leads to significant inaccuracies if impurities are present between the contacts.
By cooling the sensors and contacts through the sensor body, strip thickness can be measured at temperatures up to 250 °C, with a temperature dependence of ≤ 1 µm per 200 °C, and without the need to heat the measuring head. Measuring contacts made of sintered diamond can typically last for decades without replacement, even in harsh environments.
The design of the diamond contacts, which remain in permanent contact with the strip, ensures that they do not impair the material’s surface appearance while providing long service life. The pneumatic force pressing the contacts against the strip can be continuously controlled.
This continuous gauge was developed as an absolute measuring device that requires no mechanical readjustment to the nominal strip thickness. Its absolute measuring capability also allows it to be used for precision calibration of other gauges (e.g., contactless) during production in cold rolling mills.
